The Redneck Rumble for 2014 has been run and won. For the complete results you can check HERE
Before I begin I would like to say a big thank you to the following people.
Jack Taylor for helping me chase up ideas, prices, venues etc. Was good to have a sounding board to make sure not all my ideas where total crap.
Jake Hacker for being my little minion bitch over the weekend. He did a great job as always and kept the event running nice and smooth.
Rob Langford for going out of his way to pick up the trophies that got delayed and where only ready the night before the event. Big thanks for that one Rob.
To anyone else I may have forgotten, a big thank you goes out to you from me, without your support it would never have happened.
This was the first time the Redneck was held at the new Venue, Gilcreek Scouts hall in Albany, and what a great venue it was. After the Barrel was set up and car was unpacked a few minutes where spent checking out the tables and chairs, plus the kitchen. All very handy and made of good use through the entire weekend.
Friday night was another casual affair with an array of games being played, and drinks to consume. Thank fully Tim Manassah took on himself to rid the Northerners of the Southern Road Trip curse nice and early. A little run in with a truck left a nice little dent in his car, thankfully everyone was ok and uninjured.
Saturday morning started early and the Kitchen was put to good use. One thing was noted there was no ventilation fans however I have been informed this will be corrected by next years event.
The event ran smoothly once more with some great games and a nice relaxed feel. Saturday night saw several groups break off with the ever popular Fortified wine night seeing quite a few wines up for drinking. Admittedly there where some absolute shockers. Jack Taylor one the worst supplied wine with a bloody shocking Cockburn Fine Tawny Port. This was so bad it was described by one of the drinkers as “Soul Destroying”.
It was foul to the extreme. So for his efforts Jack was awarded some “Poo Pouri” to help clear up the smell his effort would certainly produce in the morning. On the other end of the spectrum there was some VERY nice fortified efforts. Bruno Shuts supplied what was eventually decided to be the overall winner. A very very nice Rutherford Muscat that got destroyed pretty quickly. As a thank you he won a 4 pack of Port Sippers.
Sunday was another great day of gaming with the final 2 games being played. The final results are listed HERE and it was yet another close result. I am placing some photos below for people to check out but a couple of mentions.
Big congratulations to Joshua Davies for being the first Southerner to win this event. By winning this event he qualifies himself for the State Of Origin held next year in Perth. Just a reminder Josh, get onto Westgamer and get in touch with the rest of the WA team to organise team makeup etc etc.
Big congrats to Duro Bozic who won the The Happy Drunk award. A close fought affair and it was great to see another worthy winner.
The Civil war went back to the North with a bigger gap than last year. Work needs to be done with the Southern Players so recruiting will be strong this year.
The 2 door prizes went to David Capon and Michael Watson. Both have been informed they will need to make an appearance next year for Friday night with Redneck Life and Trailer Park Wars being the prizes.
Before I close I would like to say a big thanks to all Perth travelers who help make the event what it is and give the local Albany players some new opponents on the scene. I would also like to thank the Albany players who stayed back to help clean the venue. The venue has since contacted me and has stated they where very impressed with how clean we left the venue, so we are more than welcome next year and for other events.
Speaking of which work is underway to promote a local gaming weekend with a couple of other tournaments and demonstrations. So keep an eye out once work is completed.
Also, make sure everyone checks out Westgamer for information on next years State of Origin and Ausbowl Open events. Lets make sure Western Australia puts on a great show to encourage the Eastern Staters to come over for more events over here.
So thanks for another great weekend and check out some of the photos below. (more pics over the coming weeks)
